History
The life of the Black Rose Cricket Club began in 1981, playing at a ground Belsize Park. The team continued happily until 1992, when falling membership forced an amalgamation with the Couch End All Sorts. The newly formed team had a shaky start under the captaincy of Fran Oestreicher, winning only one game that season.

1993. Tensions came to a head when Charlie McFall was involved in an unfortunate fracas at the crease, leading to a punch up and disciplinary action.

Mark Sandler receives a broken nose from the bowler Mohammed (Clapton Muslims), during the return match after Mohammed recorded figures of 7/24, in the first match.

Mark Sandler becomes the first umpire to be dismissed from a BR game, for an over wide umpiring stance.

Carlton Shaw records the as yet unbeaten figures of 7/29 against Rednecks away.

1994 brought a change in fortune under the captaincy of Paul Shipsides. Rose celebrated their first century scored by Nick Cooper (100 no) against Kings Ashford.

Ben Thomas records the first ever Black Rose hatrick against Sundown Specials away.
